News
01/20/2025 - A new red flag warning has been issued prompting a new COSCA open space closure beginning immediately. The wind forecast continues for the next few days so follow here for updates. The closures are made because if a fire ignites, people out in open space are in danger. In addition, emergency services capacity is stretched extremely thin in the region. We need to ensure all emergency resources are available for emergency fire response. This is an unusual situation and we really need your help to ensure public safety. Thank you and please stay safe.
12/16/2024 - Access to the Hidden Rim Trail and the Hill Canyon Fire Road from the north side of Rancho Conejo Blvd. remains temporarily closed. We are in communication with the property owner and hope to resolve the issue soon.
07/30/2024 - There's a new access route to Paradise Falls! Instead of the traditional way from the Wildwood parking lot at the west end of Avenida de los Arboles, access is available from our trailhead in Hill Canyon. The trailhead is located on Hill Canyon Road off Santa Rosa Road in Santa Rosa Valley. This route eliminates the descending (and climbing on the return trip) and is instead a much flatter option with a fair amount of shade along the latter portion of the trail. From the trailhead, cross the bridge to the south of the lot, continue south for about a mile, bear left at the junction, head southeast for about 1/3 mile, cross our new bridge, and then continue up the canyon to the falls. Check out the Wildwood trail map in the maps section of the website for more info!
New! Monthly Trail Work Opportunities!
In addition to our Fall and Spring trail workdays, we’re launching a monthly trail work program. The program will take on smaller projects with crews of approximately 20 volunteers. The expansion will provide more opportunities for community members to participate in trail work projects and provide COSCA the opportunity to address a variety of trail projects throughout our open space and trail system.
If you’re interested in participating, please register for events through the Conejo Recreation and Park District at www.crpd.org. Click the pink “Registration” button and search for “COSCA” to find event dates and locations. Each event will have sign-up limits so the number of volunteers is matched to the needs of the project. If you’re interested in getting alerts for upcoming volunteer opportunities, sign up with COSCA’s partners at www.cosf.org.
Leave No Trace Guidelines
Keeping our community open spaces clean, healthy, safe, and enjoyable takes a community-wide effort. By following a few simple guidelines, you can be part of COSCA's open space care team. For tips on outdoor ethics, see our Leave No Trace page.
